Pat Phelps, a former famous writer, still cannot write her second novel. The family is also not doing well - the relationship with her husband has long lost its sparkle, and the children are going through teenage rebellion. After sleeping with a plumber, the woman in despair decides to move with her family to the suburbs, away from the noise of the metropolis. Settling into a new house with a haunting past, Pat's problems only increase - the dwelling strangely affects her, and she tries to understand if it's depression or the mischief of local spirits.
